Are you living with chronic fatigue, ME/CFS, Long Covid or burnout that is affecting your health, work, relationships or the things that matter to you?
Perhaps you’re struggling to understand what your body is telling you, finding it difficult to manage your energy, or feeling frustrated that life has become smaller than it used to be.
You may also have experienced feeling misunderstood or dismissed when trying to get help. You might even have been made to feel that your symptoms are somehow “all in your head”.
They aren’t.
As a Health Psychologist, I can help you make sense of your experiences and explore the complex relationship between your physical health, psychological wellbeing and the circumstances of your life.
Living with chronic fatigue or a long-term health condition can affect far more than your physical health. It can change how you work, socialise, sleep, exercise, care for others and spend your time. It can also affect your sense of identity and your hopes for the future.
Psychological therapy isn’t about telling you that your symptoms are psychological, or that you simply need to think differently.
Instead, we can work together to understand what you’re experiencing and what might be keeping you stuck, while recognising the very real biological factors involved.
I use a biopsychosocial and trauma-informed approach, considering the whole person — mind, body and life circumstances.
Together, we might explore:
understanding and making sense of your symptoms
coping with the uncertainty and unpredictability of chronic illness
managing the emotional impact of fatigue and reduced functioning
finding ways to work with your energy and your body’s needs
adjusting to changes in your health, identity or circumstances
managing stress, anxiety, low mood or overwhelm
developing greater self-compassion
reconnecting with the things that matter to you
finding ways to move forward without constantly fighting against your body
It’s Not ‘All In Your Head’!
This is a concern I hear frequently from people living with chronic illness and persistent physical symptoms.
Psychological support does not mean that your physical symptoms aren’t real.
Physical health and psychological wellbeing are closely connected, but recognising this connection does not mean that symptoms are imagined or “just psychological”.
The biopsychosocial model recognises that our health and wellbeing are influenced by a combination of biological, psychological and social factors. These factors can interact in complex ways, and understanding those interactions can sometimes help us find new ways of managing difficulties.
I aim to create a space where you can talk openly about your physical and psychological experiences without feeling judged, blamed or dismissed.
Can You Help With Burnout?
I also support people experiencing burnout, particularly when ongoing stress, high expectations or trying to keep going despite your body’s signals have left you feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.
Burnout can affect your mood, motivation, relationships, concentration and sense of who you are.
We can explore what has contributed to your burnout, what your body and mind may be telling you, and how you can begin to create a more sustainable way of living.
For some people, burnout may also intersect with neurodivergence, perfectionism, people-pleasing or longstanding patterns of pushing through. We can explore these patterns compassionately and without judgement.
What Is It Like To Work With You?
I’m a HCPC and BPS-registered Health Psychologist with 13 years’ experience working within NHS Health Psychology Services.
My approach is warm, calm and down-to-earth. I combine compassion with evidence-based psychological approaches, adapting our work to you rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.
I draw on approaches including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), mindfulness and motivational interviewing, depending on what is most helpful for you.
You don’t need to know which approach you need before we start. That’s something we can work out together.
My aim is to help you better understand yourself, your health and your needs — and to support you in finding a way forward that feels meaningful and sustainable.
